Ohanaeze advises 9th National Assembly on service delivery

The Igbo apex sociocultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo on Wednesday urged   members of the 9th National Assembly to serve Nigerians with dedication.

A statement by Ohanaeze Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Chuks Ibegu, said, “The 9th Assembly should serve Nigerians and not the cabals.”

Ibegu said the legislators should not be more concerned with the fat salaries and lucrative committees they would chair rather they should be more concerned with the survival of Nigeria as a one united country.

The statement said, “National Assembly members should not be only interested in jumbo pay and committees to chair. From 1999 till date the National Assembly  has not passed any bill that touched the lives of Nigerians. None. It is themselves, themselves and themselves alone.

“They are the most paid in the world and least productive. We  have always suggested a  part-time National Assembly  to cut cost but they continue to selfishly resist it.

“We do not need more than 37 senators and 74 representatives  members to achieve.”
