Robbers kill Delta court gateman

A gateman, popularly known as Dogo, attached to the Delta State High Court, Asaba, has been killed by armed robbers, who invaded the court premises on Sunday.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the hoodlums invaded the court premises and shot dead the gateman before stealing the soundproof generator.

Workers at the court were said to have discovered the corpse of the gateman in pool of his blood when they resumed work on Monday and raised the alarm before the police came to remove the body.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, confirmed the incident on Monday, adding that the corpse had been deposited in a morgue.

She said, “They steal the soundproof generator at the high court and in the process, the gateman was killed.

“Investigation is ongoing to arrest the suspects. Our men have swung into action”

When our correspondent visited the court, workers were seen mourning the death of the gateman, whom they described as a dedicated and lovable fellow.
